Eat The Word
Eat the book, eat the book – child of God, eat the word of God. God’s word is food which must be eaten – its satisfaction and benefits can be compared to nothing worth eating in this life.
To those who do not understand what it means to eat the word, reading further will give you a clue and a clear comprehension of this idea. In the book of Genesis the third chapter, the first man and woman God created, by disobedience ate the fruit of the forbidden tree. Immediately, their eyes opened and they acquired knowledge of good and evil. It is in the eating of something that true knowledge of it is acquired.
Eat the word of God and you will acquire the true knowledge of the God whom you serve. Sadly, many want to know God and desire a close relationship with Him yet a few of them feed on His word. Everyone wants to receive a miracle from God yet not everyone has time and keen interest in feeding on His word – this God whom you so much love and depend on can do nothing without His word. To succeed in having a close relationship with God or receive a miracle from Him, you must eat His word. — Matthew 4:2 – 4
Jesus Confirmed You Should Eat The Word
It is not surprising that our Master Jesus when tempted by Satan, specifically to command stones to become bread and eat because He was hungry, answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ “
So you see, to live is not by bread or food alone but by the word that literally proceeds from the mouth of God.
It may also be interesting to know that there are different brands or flavours of the word. There is the milk brand; “as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,”— 1Peter 2:2
There is the solid food (Meat) brand; “I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able;” — 1Corinthians 3:2
Both the milk and solid food brands are revealed in Hebrews 5;
¹² For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.
¹³ For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.
¹⁴ But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. – Read More
